Rocky Mountain High: Teriyaki Madness Targets Colorado for Continued Franchise Growth

The Seattle-style Teriyaki Shop franchise has identified room to add 32 of units in the state and is currently focused on finding qualified franchise partners interested in multi-unit development.

Rocky Mountain High: Teriyaki Madness Targets Colorado for Continued Franchise GrowthFor those entrepreneurs in The Centennial State looking to make some Colora-DOUGH, today is your lucky day. Teriyaki Madness, the Seattle-style Teriyaki Shop concept, has identified the state of Colorado as a prime growth market for franchise expansion. This comes as the brand continues its impressive franchise development momentum, with nearly 100 new units sold across the country since the start of 2022.

“Last year was excellent for franchise development, and now, in 2022, we are proving to do even better and outpace that momentum,” said Teriyaki Madness CEO Michael Haith. “We are really firing on all cylinders in terms of sensational sales and franchise development, and we are looking for markets where we can continue that trajectory. Colorado fits the bill.”

Teriyaki Madness already features 10 open restaurants in the state of Colorado, all along the front range. Since TMAD is based in Denver, Haith says Colorado has always been a natural progression for expansion. Now, the team is looking to add new territories in other Colorado cities, such as Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and further development in the greater Denver area.

Qing Li Hammel is one Colorado-based Teriyaki Madness franchisee who has seen continued success since signing on with the brand.

After an extremely successful career in finance with Countrywide Financial (Now Bank of America) and GMAC and various offshore funds, Hammell pursued her free-spirited passion for business and became an entrepreneur through the signing of a 6-unit development agreement with Teriyaki Madness. Her first three locations in Denver and Highlands Ranch are integral parts of their communities.

“Once I discovered the unique and healthy offering that Teriyaki Madness brought to the table, I knew it would be the perfect fit for the hard working people and families of Colorado,” said Hammel.

In Colorado and beyond, Haith says Teriyaki Madness is looking for qualified, multi-unit and multi-brand franchise owners who may be looking to expand their QSR portfolio. So far this year, the brand has signed several multi-unit deals in markets across the country, including a 35-unit agreement in Florida and Arkansas, a three-unit agreement in Indiana, a three-unit agreement in Connecticut, a three-unit agreement in Nashville and a three-unit deal in California. All of these franchisees were expanding their existing multi-brand portfolios which include brands like Sonic Drive-In, Arby’s, Jersey Mike’s, Wings Etc. and more.

Looking ahead, Teriyaki Madness has 16 new shops in the opening process for the rest of the year, with 60 slated to open next year, putting the brand at 200 open Teriyaki Shops by the end of 2023.

“Growth is not something we force,” said Haith. “We look at where the demand is and ensure the opportunity is right. Right now, we don’t have to look very hard. The demand for Teriyaki Madness is growing everywhere, and we’re finding potential multi-unit franchisee partners who have experience and are looking to grow their portfolios. As we have seen with the success of established franchisees in the area, Colorado is a prime market for Teriyaki Madness, and we are just getting started.”
