Gary DeJohn got his 15 minutes of fame in March 2012 on ABC’s The Shark Tank with his wine aerator, The Vinamor. Now, he wants shine the limelight on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The 29-year-old CEO announced today that the company will be giving 50% of all proceeds made online between October 1st and November 15th of this year to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Additionally, 50 cents will be donated for every new ‘Like’ the Vinamor Facebook page receives, and 50 cents for every new Twitter follower (@garydejohn).
Being a father himself, DeJohn has always had a special connection with St. Judes hospital. In 2009 and 2010, DeJohn got the opportunity to visit St. Judes where he witnessed the heartbreaking faces of childhood cancer first hand. “I couldn’t even imagine if that was my child. Having her definitely puts things into perspective. I am lucky to have a healthy daughter, others are not. These kids, and their parents, need all the help they can get.”
Consumers who purchase their Vinamor online during the next month and a half can take pride in that next glass of wine, knowing half of the purchase went to supporting cancer research for children. That’s cause for celebration – pat yourself on the back and have a second glass.
In case you are not familiar with St.Jude, here are some astonishing facts:
- No family ever pays St. Jude for anything.
