Six Years and Millions of Customized Meals Later:

Using an Integrated Point-of-Sale System by Custom Business Solutions, STACKED:Food Well Built Has Paved The Way for Tablet Ordering

Six Years and Millions of Customized Meals Later:FSTEC -Custom Business Solutions Booth#408 (Sept. 14, 2017) – Six years after the first STACKED:Food Well Built restaurant opened in Torrance, the technology driving its customizable meals and welcoming hospitality has shown to be a game changer for the restaurant industry.

Five restaurants and millions of customized meals later, STACKED has built is own brand of customer experience using the industry’s first tablet point of sale system, developed by Custom Business Solutions (CBS), that integrates at-the-table ordering, kitchen operations and much more. At STACKED, guests can enjoy delicious burgers, salads, pizzas, mac n’ cheese, appetizers and desserts as they build their meal from the plate up with a fully customizable menu featuring hundreds of quality ingredients.

Each of the five STACKED locations use about 75 iPad Minis, and soon the company will be launching online ordering through the cloud-based point of sale system.

Hailed in 2011 by USA Today as the ‘future of restaurant ordering’ this digital system gives guests complete control over their meal from ordering what they want, to the timing of items from appetizers to entrée to dessert and even payment at their convenience. The cloud based system, now marketed by CBS as NorthStar Order Entry, has led the way for additional use of tablets in the restaurant, including hand-held tablets for servers, kiosks, online ordering and mobile ordering.

“At STACKED, technology drives the process, while great food drives the guest experience,” says STACKED co-founder Paul Motenko. “Our goal is to give the guest control over their experience and encourage them to order their meal exactly the way they want it, with no judgment, and the NorthStar system lets our restaurants achieve that every day. The ordering system also lets our servers, or concierges as we call them, focus on great hospitality.”

“The vision for STACKED accelerated technology adoption for ordering and kitchen management. Their success is testament to the concept and how at the core, technology is a means to deliver a better experience,” said Art Julian, Custom Business Solutions CEO.

Six Years and Millions of Customized Meals Later:STACKED: Food Well Built is a full-service restaurant serving premium-quality, inventive and flavorful American favorites, where iPad technology serves as a platform for customization of incredible appetizers, burgers, pizzas, salads, sandwiches, mac ‘n’ cheese, shakes and desserts. Guests become culinary architects, building their meals exactly the way they want choosing from dozens of fresh ingredients and flavorful house-made sauces. Besides facilitating customization, the innovative ordering approach also lets guests control when they order and pay. STACKED also offers a full-bar, replete with multiple, flat screen TVs, and stocked with rotating craft beers, premium wine selections, and top shelf liquor for inventive cocktails.

STACKED: Food Well Built was founded in 2011 by the former co-CEO’s of BJ’s Restaurants, Paul Motenko and Jerry Hennessy, who developed that brand into a national chain.
