Slim Chickens Debuts in Kansas, Brings Better Chicken to Overland Park in Kansas CitySlim Chickens, a leader in the “better chicken” segment of fast-casual restaurants, will be bringing its fresh chicken and unrivaled flavor to Kansas – the brand’s first location in the state. The expansion is led by seasoned franchise professional, Mo Yeganeh, president and operating partner of KC Slim, LLC.

The new restaurant is located at 9001 W. 135th St. and will open on Aug. 10th. This is the second of 10 locations Yeganeh will open within the next three to five years.

“This is a monumental step in a greater growth strategy, and our expansion into Kansas is a testament to the demand for high-quality food coupled with first rate service,” said Sam Rothschild, COO of Slim Chickens. “There is nothing like Slim Chickens in the Overland Park area, and we’re thrilled to provide the community with a dining experience like no other with a partner as brand-passionate as Mo.”

Overland Park resident Yeganeh is a 30-year seasoned veteran of the hospitality industry and has worked with brands including Taco Bell Corporation, Wendy’s company and Applebee’s Services Inc. Throughout his extensive career Yeganeh has held responsibilities for more than 100 restaurants in six states. Yeganeh has received numerous awards and recognitions such as Area Director of the Year at Applebee’s and the Golden Eagle Award, a coveted recognition bestowed by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas for Director of the Year.

“I’m very much looking forward to growing Slim Chickens in the Kansas City Metro market because I believe that the high quality ingredients, fresh-to-order food and passionate Southern hospitality will provide a unique and memorable experience for guests and a winning edge over competitors,” said Yeganeh. “And, I’m passionate about continuing to champion the “Life Changing Chicken” cause by giving back to the Overland Park community in any way I can.”

Slim Chickens locations are unique in the chicken space in Overland Park; the restaurant will have a liquor license, and of-age guests have the option of ordering beer to accompany their fresh, hand-battered chicken and homemade dipping sauces.

Focusing on fresh chicken, the brand has developed a niche in its sector of the restaurant industry for product quality that can’t be found anywhere else. With fresh ingredients and minimal freezer space in every restaurant, Slim Chickens honors a commitment to homemade recipes and strong supplier partnerships, ensuring guests can feel good about the food they eat. The down-home Southern brand offers diners hand-breaded or grilled chicken tenders paired with a choice of eight handmade dipping sauces or seven wing sauces for exceptional flavor that has earned admiration from both customers and critics. If guests want to switch it up, Slim Chickens also offers fresh salads, wraps, and chicken and waffles. To offset the savory side of the menu, rotating dessert flavors served in Mason jars are available.

The 2,922-square-foot store is the prototype being used for aggressive national expansion and is one of 15 new restaurants slated to open in the next 12 months across the country. The brand has seen great success in the last several years, expanding from Arkansas into Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and now Kansas, and emerging as a national player to establish fast-casual dining’s “better chicken” segment.
