When preparing the marketing plan for the grand opening of its latest location in Weatherford, Texas, Sunny Street Café’s marketing team was faced with daunting traditional media costs out of nearby Fort Worth, Texas­–where most Weatherford residents turn for their radio, TV, and print media.

“To make an impact in traditional media for a market of that size, you’re talking about a huge investment,” said Mike Stasko, Marketing Director of Sunny Street Café. “So, we turned to digital media, specifically social marketing and Facebook’s highly targeted advertising which could hone in on Weatherford residents.”

The grand opening promotion, called 365 Days of Sunny, offers entrants a chance to win one year’s worth of Sunny Street Café breakfast by liking the Sunny Street Café Weatherford Facebook page, Tweeting about the sweepstakes or by leaving their email. Entrants can earn additional points, or chances to win, by sharing the contest with their friends via social networks or email. In addition to one year’s worth of breakfast, the sweepstakes also awards one Facebook fan per day with a free breakfast during the promotion’s 30-day life span.

Conceived and developed by Columbus, Ohio digital marketing firm, Cement Marketing, the promotion is powered by highly targeted Facebook advertising. Every advertising dollar is specifically reaching Weatherford residents.

“We started with 60 Facebook fans and in just the first two days our fan count is up 300%,” Stasko said.  “This really is a test for us in social marketing and, if it has the effect we believe it will on driving traffic into the restaurant, we will duplicate this promotion for future openings.”

The fast-growing breakfast-lunch chain, Sunny Street Café, celebrated the opening  of its latest location in Weatherford, Texas, on December 12th, 2012, with a grand opening celebration on January 9th, 2013.  The promotion debuted on January 10th, 2013. Sunny Street Café operates 15 franchised locations Ohio, Texas, and Missouri. Ohio and Texas locations are open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
