Texas-Based FreeRange Concepts Debuts The General Public in Houston

Spirited Neighborhood Restaurant and Bar Opens in CityCentreFreeRange Concepts, a restaurant group creating fresh ideas and popular venues in top markets, announces the opening of The General Public’s first Houston location on Friday, August 12. Located in CityCentre at 797 Sorella Ct. Ste 118, The General Public’s wholesome food and warm hospitality take familiar recipes to the next level with the freshest ingredients from farmers and suppliers they know personally.

“We Houstonians really look for that neighborhood spot catering to more than just trends,” said Kyle Noonan, native Houstonian and co-owner of FreeRange Concepts, which founded The General Public. “We worked hard to deliver that by carefully designing the space, developing the menu and selecting the staff to make this a one-of-a-kind destination.”

The menu was meticulously designed by Chef Daniel Menchaca to have a broad appeal while offering fresh takes on classics including shared plates, salads, burgers, sandwiches, oysters and sides. Everything is made in-house with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and served up by The General Public’s friendly, attentive staff.

The General Public serves both lunch and supper inside and on its air-conditioned patio. The signature horseshoe-shaped bar is tended by expert cocktail crafters eager to share enticing indulgences such as Dr. Funk, the Four Thieves, the Caipirinha and the Rusky Rose.

Some of The General Public’s twists on household favorites and unique menu items include:

  • Mama’s Tamale Pie – Guajillo and Ancho chicken chili, toasted cumin, cheddar cheese and cornbread crust
  • Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes – Garlic aioli and oven roasted Brussels sprouts
  • Green Chili Grilled Cheese – Jalapeño cheddar bread, muenster, American and green chili gravy
  • Hot Ham and Swiss – Sourdough, house mustard, Trappist aioli, sprout kraut and fried pickles
  • Shrimp & Avocado Salad – Tomatoes, red radish, fresh lime, extra virgin olive oil, cilantro and fresh horseradish
  • Burrata & Pistachio Toast – Fresh cheese and pistachio crusted baguette
  • Crispy Quail & Hot Cakes – Two chickpea crusted quail, scallion pancakes and chipotle syrup

“We are really proud of how our vision for this restaurant morphed into reality,” said Joshua Sepkowitz, co-owner of FreeRange Concepts. “It’s unlike any other dining establishment you’ll find in Houston. We invite everyone who enjoys great food, cold drinks and fun times to come visit The General Public and experience it for yourself. We think you’ll add it to your short list of go-to destinations.”
