Michael House, a Longtime Successful Real Estate Developer, Joins Taco John’s With a Commitment for Major Indianapolis Expansion
Taco John’s, one of the largest Mexican quick-service restaurant chains in the United States, has announced plans to build 15 Mexican food franchises in Indianapolis.
Realtor Michael House, a longtime successful real estate developer and operator of two BoomBozz Craft Pizza and Taphouse locations, has signed a five-store agreement with an option for an additional 10 units. His Taco John’s franchises will be the first in the Indianapolis area, and House is excited to introduce the brand.
“Taco John’s brings diversity to our company,” House said. “There is an opening in the market for this type of industry. There’s a plethora of guys doing burgers, but in the taco business — where we are in Indianapolis — you only have one main player.
“That’s why I’m very excited about bringing Taco John’s to Indianapolis. Mexican QSR customers are looking for that fresh, meaty taste they wouldn’t find at any other brand of this type. The ingredients that go along with our meat are prepared right in the store. People in other cities have tasted the difference, and they’re going to taste it in Indianapolis as well.”
Taco John’s is one of the largest Mexican fast food brands in the nation with more than 380 restaurants in 27 states. Taco John’s was founded in 1969 and has built a strong following in the central and north central United States. It is bringing its fresh, fast concept to the rest of the nation, particularly in areas east of the Mississippi where the fast-growing Mexican QSR category offers only one national competitor and the market demands alternatives.
House and his team bring experience to the Mexican food franchise
House is a longtime developer for Walgreens and Arby’s; real estate has been his lifelong passion that even predates his 1980s start in franchising. With his operations staff already in place, House is eager to get started with Taco John’s.
Working with House in operations is his working partner, Craig Harts, an experienced food service operator and one of SUBWAY’s earliest franchisees.
“We put a good team together in operations. It wasn’t something we did overnight,” House said. “We wanted to expand what we have in place, and I wanted to utilize my real estate experience more. The guys I’m involved with have a lot of knowledge. We like the food and the concept, and I think we can be successful here.”
Taco John’s management leads Mexican food franchise toward aggressive growth
Taco John’s offers multiple building footprints designed to work in a variety of locations. The Mexican food franchise offers extensive consultation during the site development and construction process and helps identify contractors, or can coordinate with the franchisee’s team.
Taco John’s franchisees have access to decision makers from the franchise support center and receive extensive support. Taco John’s hired several new management team members in 2013, starting with CEO Jeff Linville. He and his team have proven expertise in growing brands. Taco John’s has been on a sustained growth trajectory. They have experienced 19 straight years of same-store sales growth, and they are on pace for a record-setting number of new franchisees entering the system. Now is the time to consider Taco John’s.
