The Egg & I Restaurants Salute the Military with Fundraising for Local USO

The Egg & I Restaurants will launch a salute to the military Friday, October 19, 2012 in San Antonio. The promotion features a $1.00 donation from the sale of every Patriot Waffle to the San Antonio USO at all five San Antonio locations through November 12, 2012 in honor of Veterans Day.  The Patriot Waffle is topped with fresh raspberries and blueberries and a dusting of powdered sugar. Additionally, at all 5 The Egg & I locations in San Antonio, all military personnel receive a 15% discount on all food purchases every day.

The Egg & I Restaurants expanded into the San Antonio market in 2008, and now have five locations in the city.  Appreciative of the service of America’s finest who call San Antonio home and those servicemen and women who visit during their tours of duty, The Egg & I Restaurants management team chose the USO as its beneficiary. “We are honored to recognize those who serve our country and support the important efforts of the USO,” said Brandon Heinsohn, Director of Operations for The Egg & I Restaurants. “We are really looking forward to raising money to benefit the two USO Centers who provide entertainment and morale for individuals stationed here and elsewhere as they serve in the many military service branches represented in San Antonio.”

The USO supports troops and family members by providing a home away from home atmosphere, giving them the opportunity to keep them connected to the families and friends they left behind. Serving over 100,000 troops and family members annually, the local USO centers provide everything from snacks and gaming to computers and a place to just relax.

Throughout our country’s history, Americans have felt profound appreciation and gratitude for the dedication and sacrifice of our troops and their families. The USO provides a tangible way for all of us to say thank you, as it has for over 70 years. “Funds raised will help the USO continue our mission of lifting the spirits of America’s troops and their families,” said, Shari Jensen, Director of USO San Antonio. “As a nonprofit, non-political organization, the USO is now, and always will be, about our troops. Wherever and whenever they go, the USO will be there, until every one comes home.”

The Egg & I Restaurants have 63 restaurants in 15 states, with 22 restaurants in Texas. Two are located in Austin, two in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, five in the Houston area, five in San Antonio, one in Tyler and one in Waco.
