Got a fond memory of hanging out at a Ground Round? Jack Crawford is banking on it.
The CEO of the Ground Round Independent Owners Cooperative tells me that the restaurant chain is enjoying a comeback in 2012, with the most restaurants opening in one year since the 1990s. Crawford, who works out of his house in Stow, says Ground Round expects to open five or six restaurants this year, following an opening in Langhorne, Pa., earlier this year.
The company just signed franchise agreements that will lead to the opening of five restaurants in New Jersey, three in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin. Of those, Crawford says two in New Jersey and three in Minnesota will most likely open later this year, and the Wisconsin restaurant will either open late this year or early 2013.
