Women’s In-House Counsel Leadership Institute Award to Be Presented on October 5th for Advancing Female Leadership in the Legal Profession
Dedicated to growing opportunities for women to succeed at the highest levels in the legal profession, the Women’s In-House Counsel Leadership Institute (WIHCL) announced that Sloane Perras, the Chief Legal Officer for The Krystal Company and On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, will be one of its spotlight award recipients at this year’s first-ever Horizon Awards. The WHICL will be honoring Perras with The Bridge Builder Award for her tireless efforts in creating opportunities for fellow female leaders, and directing corporate policy to be more inclusive of women in executive legal positions. Perras has also been recognized as a role model for others to follow in terms of corporate and community involvement in the pursuit of high-level success for women.
“I am tremendously humbled by this honor,” said Perras about the award. “I was drawn to this effort out of a desire to make a positive impact for others and it became a mission I still take very much to heart. To be recognized by my peers in this way is simply inspiring.”
Omar Janjua, the Chief Executive Officer of Krystal was not at all surprised by the selection of Perras for the award. “All of us at Krystal have seen Sloane’s dedication to teamwork, helping others, and being a mentor time and time again,” he said. “It’s just a part of who she is as a person, and a testament to what a truly special professional she is, not just from a legal standpoint, but from a corporate business leadership perspective as well. There is no question she is the ideal person to receive this first-ever award.”
The inaugural awards celebration will take place Wednesday, October 5th at the Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.. WIHCL’s inaugural Horizon Awards dinner will be honoring general counsel and former general counsel – both men and women – who have mentored women who have gone on to become general counsel themselves, as well as women general counsel who have mentored other women to become partners in law firms.
“The Horizon Awards Dinner is an opportunity to honor the thought leaders and seasoned executives who will accelerate the number of women who will become general counsel in the next five years,” said WIHCL’s Executive Director Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr.
The inaugural Horizon Awards dinner is open to members, non-members, and guests of WIHCL.
