Tropical Smoothie Cafe to Host National Flip Flop Day Friday, June 17th

Free Smoothies to Anyone Wearing Flip Flops 2-7pm, “Fun” Raiser for Camp Sunshine

Consumers looking to beat the heat should grab their favorite flip flops and head over to Tropical Smoothie Cafe this Friday, June 17th from 2-7pm for a free 24 ounce Jetty Punch Smoothie, no shoe laces attached.  The brand hopes to raise funds and awareness for Camp Sunshine, the Maine-based organization devoted to providing a healthy, happy camp experience to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The smoothie giant hopes to raise $1 million through donations.

“This is our tenth year celebrating National Flip Flop Day.  We view it as the unofficial beginning of summer and a great way to shine a light on a life-changing program benefitting thousands of families,” said Mike Rotondo, CEO of Tropical Smoothie Café and the driving force behind the fundraising effort.  “We at Tropical Smoothie Café are all about living better and so, too, is Camp Sunshine.”

The brand expects to use more than a quarter of a million bananas and 63,000 pounds of strawberries during the five-hour Jetty Punch Smoothie giveaway.  To date, the brand has donated more than $3.7 Million to Camp Sunshine.
