Just as baseball season is heating up, Wingstop Sacramento Valley and the Stockton Ports announced the award-winning wing chain is the official wings of the minor league baseball team for the 2013 season.
To kick off the partnership, Wingstop threw out the first pitch on Thursday, May 2 and gave away baseball caps to the first 500 attendees at the game.
As part of the sponsorship, Wingstop launched a text campaign exclusively for Stockton Ports game attendees. During 35 home games, fans will be prompted during the 6th mid-inning to text and receive special offers from Sacramento Valley Wingstop restaurants.
“There’s no better match-up than wings and sports and we are proud that Wingstop is the Official Place for Wings for the Stockton Ports Baseball Team,” said Ranjan Bhasin, owner-operator of several Wingstops in the area. “We love being a part of the Stockton community, and are excited to give back to baseball fans and be part of the Ports lineup.”
Additionally, the Ports will host a Wingstop “Atomic Wing Eating Contest” for fans during two home games this season on June 7 and August 24, and the first 500 fans to arrive on June 20, July 18 and August 22 will receive a free baseball cap.
“We are thrilled to partner with Sacramento Valley Wingstop restaurants,” added Greg Bell of the Stockton Ports. “We love our fans, and Wingstop will definitely add to the fan experience this season.”
